Heard Nutrition
PrivacyPrivacy Policy
Heard is a beta nutrition app. This page explains what information the app collects, why it is used, and how beta feedback helps improve the product.
Last updated: May 21, 2026
Heard uses your meal information to provide and improve nutrition logging.
Heard lets you type or speak meal descriptions, review matched foods, and save or report results. The app uses AI to interpret meal text, but nutrition numbers come from food data sources such as USDA FoodData Central. During beta, reports, corrections, and error events may be reviewed to improve parsing, matching, and product quality.
Heard is not a medical product and does not provide medical advice. Do not use it as a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian, or other qualified professional.
What the app may collect
- Meal text you submit, including typed or spoken transcripts.
- Parsed foods, matched food entries, serving edits, nutrition results, and saved meal records.
- Reports and feedback you submit about incorrect or confusing results.
- Correction events, such as serving changes or estimate confirmations, used for beta tuning.
- Account information, such as name, email address, authentication session, and login provider details.
- Technical information such as request IDs, error events, browser/user agent, IP-derived request metadata, rate-limit events, and basic analytics.
Heard does not need full raw request bodies for monitoring events, and monitoring records are designed to store bounded, sanitized snippets rather than secrets or full private payloads.
Why Heard uses this information
- To parse your meal description and return nutrition results.
- To let you review, edit, save, and continue meal logging.
- To debug errors, rate limits, failed matches, and confusing results.
- To improve the beta by learning where parsing, matching, serving estimation, and UI flows break down.
- To protect the service from abuse, excessive traffic, and repeated failing requests.
- To understand broad product usage, such as whether users complete logs or report issues.
AI helps interpret meals, but does not invent nutrition numbers.
Heard may send meal text and structured food context to AI services to parse meal descriptions or select among candidate food matches. The purpose is to interpret what you meant, not to generate nutrition values from scratch.
Nutrition values shown in the app are sourced from food datasets, currently USDA FoodData Central. The app may store the selected food match, nutrition values, debug information, and correction history so the result can be reviewed and improved.
Voice input is turned into text before submission.
Heard uses browser speech recognition for microphone input when supported. The app receives the transcript text and places it in the meal input box. Heard does not intentionally store raw audio recordings as part of the meal logging flow.
Browser speech recognition may be provided by your browser or device vendor. Their processing of microphone audio is governed by their own policies. Once you submit the transcript to Heard, the text is handled like any other meal input.
Services that help run Heard
Heard relies on service providers to host, authenticate, process, store, monitor, and improve the app. Depending on how you use the product, information may be processed by:
- Vercel for hosting, deployment, analytics, and application infrastructure.
- Supabase for database storage, reports, correction events, monitoring events, and app data.
- Better Auth and configured login providers for authentication.
- OpenAI or other AI services used to parse meal text and assist with food matching.
- USDA FoodData Central for food search and nutrition data.
- Upstash or similar infrastructure used for rate limiting and abuse protection.
You can ask for deletion or changes.
Heard keeps information for as long as it is useful to operate the app, support saved logs, investigate reports, improve the beta, and maintain security. Beta diagnostic records may be retained so recurring issues can be analyzed over time.
You can request deletion of your account or related app data by emailing heardnutrition@gmail.com. Some limited records may be retained when needed for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or backup integrity.
Heard is not intended for children under 13.
Heard is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not create accounts or submit meal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
